Tree of Life and Tree of Knowledge

What really happened in the Garden of Eden? Was it simply a sin, or a horrendous mistake? Adam and Eve lived in the Garden in a spiritual relationship with God. In order to live in the spirit a person’s own will had to choose to deactivate and to live through God’s will or spirit. Adam and Eve were completely filled with the spirit of God. Not only could they see trees as we do, but they could see life – an intangible, spiritual thing. They could, also, see a fruit called knowledge hanging on a tree, and they ate from it. God had forbidden them from eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. It was not God’s will for them to eat of it. It was their will, and from that moment on they were separated from living in God’s will. Now they were living according to their will. Now they were separated from Love. The opposite of love is fear. “Perfect love casts out all fear.” After cutting themselves off from the love of God, their first emotion was fear. They covered their nakedness with leaves and hid themselves from God. From that moment of following their own will rather than God’s, they and their descendants struggled with their new-found knowledge of right and wrong to find a way back to God, to love and to life. But their effort to be good enough to reconnect to God always failed, and in some instances drove them further away from the will of God.

Then, because “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, so that whosoever believes in Him, would not perish, but have ever-lasting life”, He sent his son Jesus to lead us back to God and to the Tree of Life. Matthew Chapter 11
28 “Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.30 For my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light.”

Jesus was saying, “give up your will, and be yoked with me. Learn of me and you will finally find rest unto your souls“. Mankind had been trying to find their way to God’s favor, and Jesus pointed out the way. He said, “I am the WAY, the truth, and the life. No man comes unto the Father, but by me.”

All that had to be done now was for someone to pay the penalty for man’s sins. Jesus willingly sacrificed himself for our forgiveness and our return to God. He allowed himself to be nailed to a wooden cross taken from a tree. If you have been searching for love, for forgiveness and for life, come to the cross of Jesus. It is not simply two wooden beams put together as one. It is The Tree of Life. Only there will you find the answers that you have been seeking. Only there will you find a true spiritual relationship with the true and living God of all creation.  Only there will you find life.

John 14:16 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
