A Love Story
“Love your God with all your heart, mind, spirit, and strength.” “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” “A new commandment I give you. Love ye one another, even as I have loved you.” “The world shall know that you are my disciples, in that ye love one another.” “God is love.” “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him will not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Yes, the Bible is really a love story. A love story that has had many ups and downs along the way, and even separation. And like many relationships, it took a child to bring them together again. The child was called “the Son of God” and he was called “the Son of Man”. He lived in man and he lived in God. He bridged the gap that separated God and man, and the two were reconciled at last. It is a story of sacrifice, unconditional love and abounding grace. It is a story of mankind’s fickleness and God’s determination for reconciliation.
Yes, the Bible is a love story. A story authored by God. Yet, it doesn’t end like most love stories – living happily ever after. In God’s story, we live with Him happily forever, ever after. Now that’s a love story.
