We sometimes have the mindset, that if we were born lowly, we will stay lowly. The untouchables of India, the poor of Appalachia or those born in the ghetto usually have a defeatist attitude. But it doesn’t need to be so.
The greatest man who ever lived, who has influenced the world, was born in a stable, and instead of a cradle, slept his first days in a manger. And now the whole world knows him, and he has healed and saved multitudes. Yes, he did have a secret weapon: His Father was God. But he didn’t have an advantage over us.
John 1:12-13 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, 13who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.”
Yes, we, too, have a secret weapon if we accept Him as our own. Jesus gave us the right to become God’s children. We can have God living within us, directing us, empowering us and protecting us. And we can triumph over the world.
“Take the name of Jesus with you, everywhere you go”, are the words to a well-known hymn. Yes, take the name of Jesus, to find peace, joy, eternal life and exceptional-ism in everything you do.
Romans 8:17 ” Now if we are children, then we are heirs–heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”
By accepting Christ, we become God’s children. We may suffer for His sake, but the glory we will share with Him is unspeakably beautiful.
