Self-destruct or be exalted?

Who stands between us and God? It isn’t Satan. He’s on our backs trying to drag us down into the quagmire of darkness, death, and defeat. The only one who stands between us and God is ourselves – our egos.

It’s natural for us to trust only in ourselves. We learn to walk, to talk, to read and write, and all the basics of life plus a little too much misinformation. We learn to take care of ourselves, to make our own decisions, and to trust only in ourselves. Society today teaches us that no one matters except ourselves, and that we can tear down others, tear down our social structure, and tear down institutions simply for the fun of it.

When self-reliance and self-confidence turns into self-indulgence it becomes self-destructive. When enough in society become self-destructive, society itself is destroyed.

Only by putting God first, can we prevent our self-destruction. A person’s wealth can be lost in an instant. A genius can make wrong decisions in life. Good health can disappear in an office visit. We must put God first. We must learn to trust in Him, to rely on Him and to depend on His guidance. In Him there is wealth, health and life. Only in Him is there victory and never destruction.

I Peter 5:6 “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.”

Do you want to avoid destruction, and want God to exalt you? That’s easy. All you have to do is get your ego out of the way and receive Him. He’s been pursuing some of us for a long time. And now it’s time to stop playing hard-to-get. It’s time to get serious. It’s time for each of us to receive our Messiah for ourselves. It’s time to start rebuilding.
