Bless and bless again

The book, “God, reward and punishment:  Are they real?,” reveals that The Harvest Principle (Golden Rule) says that we should do to others what we want done to us. Yes, whatever we want done to ourselves, we need only to do to another, and it will be done to us.

It cannot be emphasized enough just how important it is for us to do only to others what we want done to ourselves. Any time we judge or condemn another, it won’t be long before we are judged and condemned. Any time we want misfortune or suffering for another, we will soon experience misfortune or suffering in our own lives. The person that we desire misfortune or suffering for will not be punished for our sin against them. They must, naturally, face God with their sin against us, but they will not be punished for what we feel for them. Only we will receive that punishment.

Jesus said, “love your enemies, bless those that curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.” This is a great teaching. Under no circumstances or justification must you want misfortune or suffering for others – whoever they are or whatever they’ve done.

Jesus said that this law was the sum of the law and the teachings of the prophets. In other words, it is the foundation of all Biblical teaching and of all earthly moral teaching.

That explains the destructive side of this law, but the great news is that whenever we bless another, we will be blessed. Whenever we lift up or encourage others, we will be lifted up and encouraged. Whenever we feel joy for another’s success, accomplishments or joy, we will soon feel our own success, sense of accomplishment and joy. The door is wide open to how much joy, fulfillment and completion we can feel in our own lives. It all depends upon how we view and treat others.

The Bible says, “Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He might exalt you in due time.” Each of us must drop our defenses and humble ourselves or our own interests for the good of others, and especially humble ourselves, praise and exalt God. Perhaps then, we as individuals and we as a nation will be raised up by the Almighty Hand of God. We don’t have far to go to be the great nation that we’ve been in the past. We only have to go to our knees before the God that loves us and wants only the best for us.
Don’t hate the world and its inhabitants. Love them, just as God loves them.
