Sanctification

John 17:17 “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” are the words prayed by Jesus.

Wikipedia describes the word as “Sanctification is the act or process of acquiring sanctity, of being made or becoming holy[1]. “Sanctity” is an ancient concept widespread among religions, a property of a thing or person sacred or set apart within the religion, from temple vessels to days of the week, to a human believer who achieves this state. To sanctify is literally “to set apart for special use or purpose”, figuratively “to make holy or sacred”, and etymologically from the Latin verb sanctificare which in turn is from sanctus “holy” and facere “to make”

To sanctify then is to “set apart”, to make “special”, to protect and to make safe. For a Christian, it is to be protected from Satan by the special status that we have with God through Jesus.
The Israelites in Egypt were told to paint the the blood of a sacrificial lamb on the door posts and above the door in order to protect them from the Angel of Death that would kill the first born in all of Egypt. God completed his plan for the redemption of mankind with His son as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of man. His blood cleanses us, makes us special with God and begins the sanctification process. Jesus asked His Father to sanctify us through truth, and that His word is truth. We are saved by our acceptance of Messiah’s death, burial and resurrection. We find sanctity and safety from Satan through God’s word. The more we learn of God and truth by studying His word (the Bible), the greater is our special place and protection in God. Are you sanctified? Do you need a place of sanctity and protection from the evil in the world? Security, protection, sanctity, forgiveness and redemption are found in the Bible – The word of God. “Jesus said, knock and the door will be opened unto you. Ask and you shall receive. Seek and you shall find.”
If you never seek the treasure, you’ll never find it. If you seek God, He’ll make Himself known to you. All the treasures of Heaven will be yours, if you’ll seek, ask, and knock at the door. The one behind the door will welcome you as His child, and you will, at last, find  Shalom.
