Do Pets Go To Heaven?

Can you imagine a Heaven devoid of any life, other than God, the Angels, and the redeemed in Christ. Can you imagine a Heaven with only pearly gates, streets of gold and various precious stones, but no trees, flowers or grass. Isn’t Heaven a celebration of life, love and the beauty of creation?

We see God’s beauty here on Earth as we take in the beauty of His creation. We see the mountains and the oceans. We see the flora and fauna of God’s creation and how they all fit together and complement one another in a beautiful dance of life.
Will we be denied this beauty in Heaven? I think not. To appreciate and praise God’s creation of beauty is an affirmation of our awe and admiration of our All-Powerful, loving God. I’m sure the beauty of God’s creation will be on display in Heaven.

What about love? And what about unconditional love? The Bible states quite openly that God is love. He is, also, light and life. The Apostle John wrote that, “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. I John 4:8 Does that, also, mean that if you love, then you know God?

Jesus said to love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength, and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Unconditional love. The Bible tells us that Christ lives in us and we in Him, even as He lives in the Father and the Father in Him. By loving us and loving God, Jesus bridged the gap between God and man. By loving Jesus we are reconciled with God in Christ, and through Christ.

I don’t believe that every animal that ever lived will be in Heaven, but is it possible that by loving a pet unconditionally, having them love us unconditionally, and then us loving God unconditionally, we extend the bridge of love that results in everlasting life? Isn’t it, after all, our unconditional love that separates us from those who will not experience Heaven?

We cannot understand everything about God, nor can we know exactly what wonders await us in Heaven. We do know that nothing is impossible for God. I believe that there will be rolling meadows, trees and forests, mountains, rivers and oceans in Heaven. I know that those who love God unconditionally have eternal life through Christ. If our pets love us unconditionally and we love them unconditionally, don’t they live in us and us in them? And if we live in Christ because of our unconditional love for Him, haven’t we assured eternal life through Christ for ourselves and for our pets that dwell within us because of love?

John 14:23 “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”

Love is the most powerful force in the universe. Yes, God is love. Claim it, practice it and live it – forever.
