We live our lives in quiet desperation. We experience places, things, and relationships. We meet people and some become our friends. Then one day we die, and it’s as if we were just a vapor, or a wisp of smoke. We are gone. Our old friends make new friends to use or abuse. The places we’ve been or the things we’ve done remember us no more. There is only one thing that binds us to life. Those we love, and who love us, remember us forever. I naturally remember my family and loved ones who have gone on before. But tears still well up in my eyes when I remember the day I had to allow Dolly, my Peekapoo, to be put down. She was 17 years old, and she was always by my side. Yes, we’re even bound to our pets with love. Most importantly, we are bound to and unconditionally loved by the God who loved us enough to give His only Son that we might have everlasting life.
Romans 8:38-39 “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor heights or depths, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Nothing can separate us from those we love, and especially not from our God.
God is love. It is only with love, in love, and through love that our lives have any meaning at all. So don’t seek adrenalin rushes, places or things. Find love in your life, and never let it go. When you find love, you’ve found life, and life eternal.
