Why Would Anyone Separate Themselves From God?

In Mark 5:1-9 the Bible tells us of Jesus coming to the country of the Gadarenes where a demon possessed man lived among the tombs. He was completely possessed, chains couldn’t hold him, and he lived there naked among the tombs. Verse 6 says “When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped him.” Even in complete control by demons, they could not stop the man from worshiping Jesus.

Romans 8:37 “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” God’s word tells us that nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus. Nothing or no one can do that except you.

Some will say, “If I worship Jesus, my friends will disown me.” Or they say “my family will disown me”. Or they say,” people would kill me if I worshiped Jesus.”

If Satan himself cannot stop you from worshiping Jesus. Or if there is no power in heaven and earth that can separate you from the love of God through Christ Jesus, why would you separate yourself from him? Why would you choose death when life and life eternal is within your grasp? Why would you choose hell over heaven? Why would you do that to yourself? It’s your eternal future. Your friends, family or others do not suffer for you in hell. It’s your soul and your eternal bliss or suffering that is in question. It is your choice, and no one else.

Joshua said, “choose you this day whom you will serve. As for me and my family we will worship the Lord.” Choose you this day whom you will serve. Choose the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, the creator of all things, and the giver of life, the healer, and the redeemer. Choose life.
