The Apostle Paul wrote that he had asked God to remove the “thorn in my side“, referring to an unspecified ailment or problem. He said that God answered, “My grace is sufficient for you.” Grace is usually thought of as God’s unmerited gift of salvation to man. But God went on to say, “My strength is perfected in your weakness.” Therein, lies the difference between God and Satan.
We know that Satan will use our weaknesses to destroy us if he can. He will cause us to concentrate on our weakness until we are totally absorbed or obsessed with it. Our focus blocks any thought of good or God, focusing upon our weakness and need until we destroy ourselves trying to fulfill or satisfy that need.
God, on the other hand, tells us to forget about our weakness or need, and focus on Him while he perfects His strength in us, bringing us success, fulfillment and completion to our lives. As we focus on Him, we are in His grace through the life, death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus, our Messiah. This combination assures us of a life of love, forgiveness and a future of every-lasting life.
Will you focus on yourself, your weaknesses and needs; and allow Satan to guide you to destruction? Or will you focus on God and follow Him to freedom, enlightenment and eternal life? The choice is yours. It is almost impossible to resist the pull that Satan and the world has on you. But if you ask God for His help, He’ll lead you out of the abyss and into the light. You just have to have the resolve to ask Him. It’s as simple as that.
