“And God spake all these words, saying, I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” (Exodus 20:1-3
“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:”
“And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” Deut 10:12, Matt 22:37, Mark 12:30, Luke 10:27
John 17:17 ” Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth”
Would God lie? Would He tell one group of people, that there is a caste system with seven tiers of worthiness? Would He then tell another group, “Galatian 3:28 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”? Would He tell one group of people that women are less than men, and have no rights or freedoms, after He tells us that all are equal? Would He tell one group to hate and kill those who disagree with them, and tell another group, Matthew 5:44 “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;”? Would He tell one group to go into the world and offer them salvation, Matthew 28:19-20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”; and then tell another group to conquer all nations and force them, under threat of death, to become disciples?
God would not lie to and mislead one group of people and give truth to another. God’s “word is truth“. And “the Lord thy God is One Lord“. God “is the same yesterday, today and forever.” There is but one God. Because of the isolation, in ages past, from the rest of world, many groups have sought God, knowing that He was there, yet have not learned of the true God, relying on men’s interpretation of who He should be.
The God I serve is called Jehovah, which is quite simply an Anglicized form of Yehovah,” and preserves the four Hebrew consonants YHVH, probably pronounced Yahweh. He has been recorded since the beginning of time. He caused a nation to be born out of Abraham. Five hundred years later, after the nation of Israel had multiplied to over a million people, He gave us the Ten Commandments through Moses and created a spiritual bond with man. Fifteen hundred years later, He sacrificed His Son for the forgiveness of our sins, so that we could be reconciled to Him and have eternal life. He didn’t demand that we be perfect in our works, but simply asks us to love Him as He loves us.
Christianity is love, not hate. It is forgiveness, not condemnation. It is gained through love, not works. It is not something we have to work for to obtain. It is a gift from God.
As a Christian I don’t judge or condemn anyone for not believing the same way that I do. But as Jesus commanded us, I do hold my hand out to others, so that they can find what I have found In Him. Above all things, I pray that you find love.
