A Contentious And Angry Spouse?

Proverbs 21:19 It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.

That may sound funny, but it means the difference between success in life or failure, and it holds true for a man or a woman.

If you’ve followed my blogs, you know by now that whatever you want, or do to another person is what you receive for yourself in your life. If a spouse brings out the worst in you, and you respond to their attacks, criticism, or insults by defending yourself or by counter attacking their outrageous statements, then you will receive whatever you do or say to them. Yes, you may be justified and absolutely correct in your assessment of the situation, but if you criticize, demean or insult another person, you will reap defeat in your own life. When you tear down another person, even in self-defense, you will be torn down in life. If you build up another person you will be built up in life. If you do not show respect for another person, you will not be shown respect, The overall result is that you can show respect and be respected, and that comes with success; or you disrespect another and be disrespected, which comes with failure.

Yes, it is better to live alone in the wilderness, and not show disrespect to another, than to be in a situation of confrontation and fight the degrading attack upon yourself with your own degrading attack upon your attacker.

Great harm may have been done to the contentious and angry person in their childhood. The person may be living in painful memories and present fears that cause them to defend themselves by attacking others. This is why it is so important to choose a spouse that has God in their life. Years of counseling cannot change the person. Only by accepting Jesus, turning over pains and fears to him and forgiving those that had harmed them, will they ever be free of the demons that cause them to destroy those around them. Only through God’s love is their salvation and deliverance from Satan.

If you are not married, do not yoke yourself unevenly with non-believers. If you are married to a person who is fighting the world without the help of God, then pray that God will bring salvation to that person. A marriage or business can only be successful if everyone concerned is positive in encouraging, and aiding the other person to find their full potential. Those who lift themselves up by destroying others, may, indeed, destroy the other, but they will, also, find destruction for themselves.

Find God, find love, forgive, find forgiveness, and clean the board. Leave the road to failure, and find the road to success, fulfillment and completeness in God, through Christ Jesus. May your days be many and full of happiness.
